This homeplace has existed for more than 30 years, created by Mame and Nadine DIOP, respectively from the city of Thiès (Senegal) and central Bretagne.
Together, they created Le Ben’tenier, a place for meetings and exchanges in the heart of the village of Nianing. A place where the ethics of responsible and supportive tourism is present.
Our charter informs travelers about attitudes to take regarding photos, purchases, “gifts”, local customs and practices, and environmental behaviors.
Our commitment ? Give some tips so that each of us can contribute to being a responsible traveler, respectful of the world and its people. As such, we are inspired by the responsible tourism charter created by the agency Atalante and Lonely Planet.
By choosing to be a solidarity traveler, you participate in local development while leaving room for human exchange and intercultural encounters.
For several years now, Le Ben’tenier has been carrying out solidarity actions in favor of early childhood. We work in partnership with the Tche Kanam association, the Nianing maternity ward and punctually with the Nianing nursery.

Since 2002 the association TCHE KANAM, whose seat is in Bretagne, participates in the development of pre-school education in the department of Mbour. Three schools were built, one in the bush village of NDIARONE and two others in the popular neighborhoods of the city of Mbour. These kindergartens currently host 340 children from 3 to 6 years old. BEN’TENIER travelers can participate in these actions by bringing educational games, books to equip schools.
