The village of Nianing
The village of Nianing is 10 km from Mbour on the Mbour-Joal road. It is 93 km from Dakar and 21 km from Joal. The village economy is based on fishing activities, tourism, agriculture, petty trading and crafts. The village is located in the heart of the Rural Community of Malicounda in the Region of Thiès. It has more than 10,000 inhabitants composed mostly of Seereer, Wolof, Peul and Bambara.
Economic activities revolve around fishing, processing of fish products, agriculture, livestock farming, crafts, petty trading, shellfish exploitation and tourism. The majority of the population practices the trades of farmer, breeder and fisherman.
